Milanese Diner Ornella Opens in Hackney
48-cover restaurant brings northern Italian flavors to East London
Ornella, a 48-cover Milanese diner, opens in London's Hackney at the end of April. The restaurant comes from the team behind Lupa, including co-founder Ed Templeton, former Pidgin head chef Naz Hassan, and White Lotus actor Theo James.
The concept reflects the flavors of Milan, where chef Hassan grew up. The menu features classic Milanese and northern Italian dishes including vitello tonnato, 'elephant's ear' cotoletto di vitello, and risotto alla Milanese.
Expected dishes also include penne alla vodka, mille foglie alle fragole, and zuppa Inglese, positioning Ornella as East London's latest Italian opening in a crowded market.
