The drink that started it all. No fruit salad, no soda, no nonsense — just bourbon, sugar, bitters, and a strip of orange peel doing honest work. Every serious bar in Bombay has one on the menu. The difference between a good Old Fashioned and a great one is whether the bartender stirs or shakes. Stirring is the answer.
Ingredients
Method
Place the sugar cube in a rocks glass. Hit it with 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and a teaspoon of water.
Muddle gently — you want dissolved sugar, not paste.
Add one large ice cube. Pour 60 ml bourbon over the ice.
Stir slowly for 20–30 seconds. You're chilling and diluting, not shaking.
Express the orange peel over the glass — twist it skin-side down so the oils spray across the surface. Drop it in.
