Restaurant owners in Kolhapur have increased food item prices by up to 20% following a sharp Rs 993 hike in commercial LPG cylinder rates, pushing costs to Rs 3,031 for a 19kg cylinder.

Akshay Hukerri's Veluvan hotel in Ruikar Colony raised thalipeeth from Rs 80 to Rs 100 per plate, and special tea from Rs 25 to Rs 30. Thali operator Popat Asbe plans to increase prices from Rs 120 to Rs 125.

Kolhapur Hotel Owners' Association president Sachin Shanbag said the hospitality sector faces severe strain from rising fuel costs and customer resistance to price hikes.
