Fado is Portugal's tradition of soulful, fatalistic song — music built around saudade, that particular ache of longing for something just out of reach. Sonia Shirsat is a renowned Fado artiste, and she brings an evening of these songs to the Experimental Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point on Saturday night.
This is not a genre you'll find performed live in Bombay very often. Shirsat's command of the form is well established, and the Experimental Theatre's intimacy suits this kind of music far better than a large hall would. Tickets are ₹500.
