The NCPA HSBC Bandish festival kicks off its first evening with Jayateerth Mevundi and Padma Talwalkar — two performers who have spent decades with the bandish tradition, presenting compositions from some of Indian classical music's most significant singer-composers.
The Jamshed Bhabha Theatre is a proper concert hall, and Indian classical vocal music in an acoustically considered space is a different experience from most settings. Tickets start at ₹300, making this one of the better-value evenings of the week.
This is Day 1 of a three-night festival, so if you're keen on the series, plan for consecutive evenings on the 7th, 8th, and 9th.
