The Godrej Dance Theatre at NCPA screens the Met's production of Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde this Saturday afternoon — one of the most sweeping and emotionally demanding works in the operatic canon.
The Met production features Lise Davidsen and Michael Spyres in the lead roles, and seeing it on screen at NCPA at ₹450–500 is about as close as Bombay gets to a Met night out.
If you've never spent time with Wagner before, this is a reasonable place to begin — the love story at the heart of Tristan und Isolde is not hard to follow, even if the music asks a lot of you.
