Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration raided multiple establishments in Bhiwandi, Thane district, on June 29, 2026, seizing illegal food stock worth over ₹52 lakh in an interstate expired food relabeling operation.

Operators were chemically erasing original expiry dates, pasting counterfeit manufacturing stickers, and dumping damaged goods back into the market at artificially low prices. A warehouse in Saravali had its food safety licence suspended after 1.5 tonnes of unbilled, expired items worth ₹1.67 lakh were found on the premises.

Bas karo yaar. This is not a grey market for electronics, it is the food supply chain. Authorities have not yet disclosed arrest details or whether suppliers from other states have been identified.
