Maharashtra Mandates Analogue Paneer Disclosure May First
Restaurants must declare fake paneer usage statewide
Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration has ordered all eateries to disclose analogue paneer and cheese usage starting May 1. The directive covers restaurants, caterers, hotels, and fast-food outlets across the state.
Food Safety Commissioner Shridhar Dubey-Patil announced the regulation, targeting businesses that substitute milk-derived paneer with analogue versions made from vegetable fats, starch, and emulsifiers.

The move aims to prevent consumer deception in a state where paneer is a dietary staple.
