Nagpur's Panipuri Economy Hits ₹1.5 Crore Daily

World Panipuri Day puts a number on the city's favourite obsession

Nagpur marked World Panipuri Day on July 12, 2026 with a hard number attached to its love for the gol gappa: the city moves an estimated ₹1.5 crore in panipuri sales every single day.

Prices have climbed sharply. A plate that sold for ₹5-10 a few years ago now commands ₹40-60. Vendors are keeping buyers interested with flavour extensions well beyond the tamarind-and-spice base. Hing, jaljeera, garlic, ragda, dahipuri, Schezwan, Mexican, cheese, and even chocolate versions are now on offer across the city.

This is not street food, yaar. It is a structured, scaled micro-economy. And in Nagpur, it shows no signs of slowing.
