Pune's 90-Year Mess Brings Back Lunch Thali
LPG shortage had silenced the kitchen for three months
Pune's South Indian Mess in Rasta Peth will resume its full lunch thali from June 1, ending a three-month gap forced by a commercial LPG shortage linked to the West Asia conflict.
Established in the 1930s, the mess runs on 39 commercial LPG cylinders a month. Supply disruptions forced a full week's shutdown and a trimmed menu for three months. The mess, operated by the South Indian Urban Co-Op Hostel Society, is known for home-style, hygienic South Indian meals.
Vice-Chairman Moorthy confirmed prices for the contractor will rise to account for higher raw material costs. Bas, sab theek ho jayega. The thali is back.
