Red Lobster Times Square Shuts After 23 Years
Bankruptcy survivor loses its flagship to construction chaos and a condo conversion
Red Lobster will close its Times Square location on June 14, 2026, ending a 23-year run at 5 Times Square. The chain cited prolonged construction activity that killed foot traffic and visibility, plus the property's planned conversion into residential space.
The timing stings. Red Lobster only emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024 and has been trying to rebuild since. Losing a flagship in one of the world's busiest tourist corridors, one it opened in 2003, is not a small setback.
Bas karo, yaar. The chain says all Times Square staff will receive extra pay and transfer opportunities to other locations, so at least the workers aren't left holding the bill.
