Delhi Gets Its First Sri Lankan Restaurant
Zetu opens in Mehrauli, bringing lamprais and Bawa-inspired interiors to the capital
Delhi's first permanent Sri Lankan restaurant has opened in Mehrauli. Zetu, a 175-seat space inside the 1AQ art gallery complex, is positioned as the capital's first dedicated outpost for the island's food.
The menu was developed with a Sri Lankan chef and team, with dishes including lamprais and wood-fired flatbread. The interiors draw from architect Geoffrey Bawa's tropical modernism, a deliberate design choice that extends the Sri Lankan reference beyond just the plate.
Sri Lankan cuisine has long been underrepresented in India's restaurant landscape despite geographic and cultural proximity. Zetu's scale and permanent footing make this more than a pop-up experiment. Delhi diners finally have a full sit-down answer to the question.
