Devgad Alphonso Crop Crashes 85-90%
Weather wrecked flowering, fruit-set, and the final harvest, in that order.
Devgad's Alphonso mango season has collapsed in 2025, with a government-backed survey estimating crop losses at 85% to 90% across the region's orchards.
The damage came in two waves. Sharp swings between day and nighttime temperatures in December and January disrupted flowering and fruit setting. Then hotter-than-usual weather through April and May spoiled what little fruit had developed. The result: Komal Walke, a 26-year-old horticulturist in Devgad, saw her family's three acres produce almost nothing and was forced to source fruit from larger farms just to fulfill existing orders.

For consumers, expect scarcity and high prices this season. Hapus is not missing, but it's hurting.
