Maharashtra's Food and Drugs Administration has mandated all restaurants and food vendors to explicitly disclose the use of 'analogue paneer' or 'cheese analogue' in their dishes, effective May 1.

The directive covers menu cards, display boards, digital platforms, and billing documents, no loopholes. Analogue paneer, typically made from vegetable fat instead of dairy, has long been passed off as the real thing at eateries across the state.

The FDA's order is framed around consumer protection and informed choice. Bas itna hi chahiye tha, diners now have the right to know exactly what's on their plate before they order it.
