Nagpur FDA Cancels Four Restaurant Licences
Cockroaches, mold, and rotten produce trigger swift action across the city
Maharashtra's FDA suspended the food licence of Ashoka Restaurant in Sadar, Nagpur, on July 18, 2026, after an inspection the previous day uncovered 15 major violations. Inspectors found moldy cabbage, rotten tomatoes and lemons, a widespread cockroach infestation, and no proper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
Five days earlier, on July 13, 2026, the FDA cancelled the licences of Yarana Hotel at Hazari Pahad, The Hut at Fetri, and Indian Tandoor in Friends Colony, following a complaint and subsequent inquiry. All actions were taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
